In 2024, people's thoughts about queerness are still changing, but there are new problems to face. It's great to see the progress in same-sex marriage conversations, but there are other rights that LGBTQIA+ people need. However, in a country like India, where politics is dominated by cis-het men in their late adulthood, with hardened beliefs- it is important to trace the progress of inclusivity for queerness in the same. This was traced by our first speaker, Anish Gawande- the founder of Pinklist India- India’s first archive of politicians supporting LGBTQIA+ rights and the National spokesperson for NCP, through his firsthand account of his journey as a queer person in politics, amongst other things.
