Nikunj Agarwal is a development policy practitioner and social justice leader with extensive experience working at the intersection of people, policy, and politics. Their work has focused on critical areas of human development, including education, gender equality, livelihoods, human rights, social justice, and advocacy.
They began their journey in the development sector as a Teach for India Fellow, teaching 97 students in a government school in an urban slum in New Delhi. Since then, they have worked with leading organisations and institutions, including the University of Chicago Trust, NITI Aayog, and SEWA Bharat, contributing to systemic education transformation, women's entrepreneurship, labour rights, livelihood opportunities, and digital solutions for women workers in the informal sector.
During India's G20 Presidency, they led the G20 Empower initiative, facilitating collaboration between businesses and governments to advance gender justice and accelerate women's leadership across the public and private sectors.
As a Chevening Scholar at the University of Oxford, they further deepened their understanding of public policy and the ways in which policy shapes societies and countries, while engaging with a diverse global cohort.
Driven by a commitment to creating a more equal, just, and safe world, Nikunj now mentors individuals on career development, studying abroad, interview preparation, public policy strategy, and leadership.
